Carriageway resurfacing works are set to begin on the A2 High Street and Mierscourt Road as part of the junction improvement scheme announced in June 2026.
Works are set to take place between 8pm and 5.30am from Wednesday, 9 September until Monday, 14 September.
The works include carriageway resurfacing, traffic signal works and high friction surfacing.
The temporary closure of the A2 between Ivy Street and High Dewar Road, as well as Mierscourt Road between the A2 and Longford Close will remain in place. Access to Longford Close also remains open via the southern end of Mierscourt Road.
A signed diversion continues to be in place during the closures, with traffic management operatives at closure points to assist residents.
Pedestrian access continues to be maintained during the works, but there may be times when works prevent access for short periods.
Vehicle access for residents and businesses remains available from one side of the closure or the other. Whilst on street parking is still temporarily suspended.
Bus stops continue to be temporarily closed at locations where the works take place. Affected bus services will be diverted for the duration of the overnight closures.
Medway Council apologises for an inconvenience caused by these works.
Works will be carried out by the appointed contractor, Marlborough Highways.
