Medway Matters Live returns, once again allowing residents to hear about the vision and plans for Medway and to put their questions and views to the Leader and Chief Executive of Medway Council.
The event, taking place at Strood Sports Centre on Thursday, 1 October from 7pm to 8.45pm, is the first opportunity for residents to hear directly from Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council and Richard Hicks, Chief Executive, following the July announcement about the restructuring of local councils across Kent and Medway in 2028, which will see Medway form a new North Kent Council with Dartford, Gravesham and Kent County Council.
From 6pm to 7pm, residents can explore council service stalls, learning about the wide range of services we offer and what support is available.
Medway resident and former BBC South-East journalist Rob Smith is also returning as the evening’s host and will open proceedings. This will be followed by updates from both Vince and Richard on the latest developments within the council, plans for the future and what comes next in the world of LGR and devolution.
Residents will then have the chance ask their questions directly of Vince and Richard during a Q&A session, moderated by Rob.
Book your free ticket
Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said: “We are approaching three years since the first Medway Matters Live event was held, and they continue to be a fantastic way to show residents what we have been doing, whilst getting some honest feedback.
“This is also the first event following the government’s decision on the future structure of local government in Kent and Medway. So please do not miss this opportunity to hear what that means for Medway, the next steps and ask any questions you may have. Make sure to book your free ticket and join us at Strood Sports Centre.”
Have the chance to be heard
Richard Hicks, Chief Executive of Medway Council, said: “Vince and I are really looking forward to welcoming residents to what I’m sure will be another fantastic Medway Matters Live event.
“It is always a pleasure to see so many residents who are passionate about the area attend these events, whether to find out more about the services we offer, learn about recent developments, ask questions or express their views. It is so important to us that residents have the chance to be heard, and we hope to see as many of you there as possible!”
Whilst tickets are free, booking is essential. Please book via the Medway Council website.
