The portfolio holders for children’s services and education have congratulated students who received their GCSE results on Thursday, 23 August.
In a joint statement, Cllr Andrew Mackness, Portfolio Holder for Children's Services and Cllr Martin Potter, Portfolio Holder covering Educational Attainment and Improvement said: “This year’s GCSE examinations were written to be more challenging and the grading system has changed. Despite this, Medway’s young people showed their maturity and worked hard in the lead up to sitting the examinations. Thank you to the teachers who helped our students prepare for the more challenging tests and for supporting them when they received their grades. We’d also like to credit the parents and guardians of our young people who have supported them throughout their education and will continue to do so as they transition into adult life.
“Many young people will now be going on to study at either sixth form or college, and others will be taking up vocational opportunities to learn new skills. We’d like to congratulate everyone for their hard work and wish you all the best for your next venture.”
