Nominations are now open for the Medway Youth Awards which celebrate the achievements and contribution of young people and adults who support young people in our community.

Medway Youth Council, in partnership with Medway Council, is encouraging members of the public to nominate young people and adults for the second Medway Youth Awards.

The awards aim to recognise and celebrate the remarkable people who are living, working or attending school in Medway and who are making a difference to the community.

Do you know an amazing person who goes that extra mile, someone who has overcome difficulties, or who has shown courage or resilience? Nominations can be made for young people who are aged between 11 and 18, and who attend a school or youth club, or live or work in Medway. Nominations can be made for a young person with additional needs up to the age of 24.

This year’s categories include, community participation, volunteering, sports, creativity, youth worker of the year and awards which recognise the contribution of adults working with young people in Medway.

There will also be two new awards up for grabs this year, personal challenge and development and team recognition.

Nominations opened on Friday, 1 March and close on Tuesday, 30 April 2019.

Medway Youth Awards will take place on Tuesday, 9 July, at Gillingham Football Club, Priestfield Stadium. The awards will showcase Medway’s young people’s achievements and contribution to the community.

This celebration is important for young people and the community

Thomas Baldock, Chair of Medway Youth Council, said: “Thanks again to everyone who supported us last year in making our dream a reality. We strongly believe that this type of celebration is so important for young people and the community. We see first-hand the real impact young people are making in their personal and professional lives across Medway, and cannot wait to share these good news stories.”
