Medway will welcome Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty this summer.
Children aged eight to 17 will have a unique opportunity to gain insight into Adam’s career as an Olympic Champion and 10 time world record holder.
Places to take part in his prestigious swimming camp, which will be held at Medway Council’s sports centre in Strood, were fully booked in just two hours.
The lucky few swimmers who were able to secure a place will learn the art of breaststroke from the very best and find out more about the secrets of his success. They will have extra lessons including gym sessions delivered by a British Swimming Strength and Conditioning Coach, a team activity and a classroom based presentation.
Strood Sports Centre has recently had a multi-million pound makeover with a bright reception area, a large fitness suite and gym to create a modern and inviting space for local people to enjoy and keep fit and healthy.
Medway is home to two competitive swimming clubs, triathlon groups and plenty of keen swimmers who enjoy all of the exceptional facilities Medway has to offer, including an outdoor lido at the Strand in Gillingham.
Adam will be joined by an elite team including 2016 Rio Olympian Tim Shuttleworth, Youth Commonwealth Champion Edward Baxter and Head of Strength and Rob Norman, a highly experienced Swimming Specific Strength and Conditioning Coach who has been coaching Adam and Edward for the last two years.
Medway has excellent sporting facilities
Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing and Community Services, said: “We’re delighted that the Adam Peaty Race Clinics will be coming to Medway as part of their regional tour. Medway has excellent sporting facilities and has produced some fantastic sports stars. Adam is an inspiration to many and we can’t wait to welcome him and his team to Medway.”
