UPDATED: Monday, 2 December. Agencies are working together to advise rough sleepers that emergency accommodation is available.

Emergency accommodation continues to be provided in Medway for rough sleepers. This is in addition to the housing options we offer to homeless people throughout the year.

The severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) is in place in Medway on:

  • Friday, 29 November
  • Saturday, 30 November
  • Sunday, 1 December

And on:

  • Monday, 2 December
  • Tuesday, 3 December
  • Wednesday, 4 December

Our housing team and partner agencies in the Homelessness Forum are helping to spread the message to as many rough sleepers as possible to get them off the streets and into the warm - they’re encouraged to visit Kingsley House, in Balmoral Road, Gillingham on Monday, 2 December, before 5.15pm.

Rough sleepers who are unable to get to Kingsley House during the day on Monday will still be provided with emergency accommodation through our out of hours homelessness service. The out of hours service can be contacted when the severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) is in place on 01634 304400.
