UPDATED on Friday, 27 March: Agencies are working together to advise rough sleepers that emergency accommodation is available.

Emergency accommodation is being provided for rough sleepers in Medway. This is in addition to the housing options we offer to homeless people throughout the year.

The severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) is in place in Medway on:

  • Thursday, 26 March
  • Friday, 27 March
  • Saturday, 28 March
  • Sunday, 29 March

Rough sleepers are encouraged to visit Kingsley House, Balmoral Road, Gillingham, before 5pm on Thursday and before 4.45pm on Friday. Rough sleepers who are unable to get to Kingsley House during the day will still be provided with emergency accommodation through our out of hours homelessness service. The out of hours service can be contacted when the severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) is in place, on 01634 304400.

Our housing team and partner agencies in the Homelessness Forum are helping to spread the message to as many rough sleepers as possible to get them off the streets and into the warm.
