We're encouraging residents aged 40 to 74 to book their free NHS Health Checks. Residents can also get their blood pressure checked in Rochester and Chatham at two pop-up events.
As people get older they have a higher risk of developing health problems and the NHS Health Check aims to spot the early signs which may lead to kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke and dementia. The checks offer residents one to one consultations with fully trained staff, tailored advice and ongoing support to help them make small changes to lead a healthier lifestyle.
The Health Check only takes 30 minutes and, by having one, residents can reduce their risk of developing serious health problems in the future.
Staff from the council’s A Better Medway team will be offering residents free blood pressure checks in Chatham High Street and Rochester High Street.
Residents can have a blood pressure check on Saturday, 15 February in the high street outside Primark from 10am to 4pm. The team will also be in Rochester High Street on Saturday, 22 February near the Blue Boar Lane car park from 10am to 4pm.
