Announcement on this year's pantomime and Christmas show

Medway Council has taken the difficult decision to postpone this year's pantomime of Peter Pan at The Central Theatre, as well as The Brook Christmas Show in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, the show must go on…. and it will in 2021!

Jordan Productions, who were set to produce Peter Pan the panto at The Central Theatre in Chatham, have confirmed that ‘dreams do come true’ as it’s set to return to Medway stage in 2021.

Medway Council’s box office team will contact customers who had tickets for Peter Pan to discuss their ticket options before 2021 panto tickets go on sale to the general public. Tickets for The Brook Christmas Show had not gone on sale at the time of lockdown.

Tickets holders will be contacted

Cllr Howard Doe, Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “We appreciate this will be disappointing news for many families who had already bought their tickets to Medway’s Christmas panto, but our top priority remains to protect our customers and staff. However, the show must go on and it certainly will in 2021. We are pleased to confirm that the production company will be bringing Peter Pan to The Central Theatre in Chatham next year.”

Since the two Chatham theatres closed their doors in March in line with government guidance, staff have been busy contacting more than 18,000 customers to amend their bookings for various productions which have been postponed or cancelled.

Cllr Doe added: “Our box office staff have worked incredibly hard to contact customers of shows which have already been postponed or cancelled in line with government guidance, and they will continue to keep customers up-to-date as they’re contacted by more production companies. Please bear with our box office staff during this busy time while they work hard to contact all customers who had already bought their tickets to this year’s panto. If you don’t yet have your seat booked for what’s set to be a magical adventure and entertaining performance, we will be selling the remaining tickets for Peter Pan 2021 throughout the year after we’ve contacted existing ticket holders.”

Plans underway for 2021 panto!

Chris Jordan, Managing Director of Jordan Productions, said: “Jordan Productions are obviously extremely disappointed not to be able to bring Pantomime to the Central Theatre this year. However, we are already starting work on our exciting production of Peter Pan for 2021 and are now planning the most swashbuckling, spectacular pantomime Chatham has ever seen! We really look forward to welcoming back the fantastic Medway audiences next Christmas.”
