Economic Recovery Dashboard provides invaluable source of information for business, public and voluntary agencies.

With a range of economic indicators to support and drive Kent and Medway’s recovery from COVID-19, a new Economic Recovery Dashboard has gone live today to provide an invaluable source of information for business, public and voluntary agencies.

Freely available through the kent.gov.uk/research website, dashboard data can be interrogated by geographical area using simple drop-down boxes, with source statistics drawn from a range of authoritative sources at both national and county level. These include modelled estimates from the Office of National Statistics (ONS)'s Business Impact of COVID-19 Survey with national figures disaggregated and applied to Kent and Medway.

The dashboard also includes a unique and interactive 'vulnerability index' which creates an economic vulnerability score for a sector or local geographical area comparing data against local economic indicators across England and allowing the user to select the industrial sectors they wish to consider as the most vulnerable.

Finally, the dashboard looks at the Government’s COVID-19 support schemes and the take-up in Kent and Medway local authorities.

With fortnightly updates sent to all who register via research@kent.gov.uk, the dashboard will inform, support and help drive recovery across the county.

Dashboard helps to 'drive economic recovery'

Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Mike Whiting, welcomed the publication: “The Economic Recovery Dashboard is a vital piece of the recovery jigsaw in Kent and Medway providing real insight and understanding of how our local economy and our business sectors are faring as we emerge from lockdown. Data from the dashboard will help us target and measure interventions as we work with partners across the county to deliver our Kent and Medway Resilience and Renewal Plan and drive economic recovery.”

'Helping businesses through these challenging times'

Cllr Rodney Chambers, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Inward Investment, Strategic Regeneration and Partnerships, said: “We are committed to supporting the economic recovery in Kent and Medway and helping businesses through these challenging times.

“The dashboard will help identify the possible impact on local economies and the areas which may be most at risk, giving us greater opportunity to target our support to the most vulnerable places. This information will be invaluable in planning for recovery and helping our economy grow. We will continue to do all we can to provide our residents and businesses with support and opportunities, and to build a sustainable future.”
