Update on Medway’s sports centres | Medway Council
Published: Tuesday, 1st December 2020

Medway Park, Strood and Hoo Sports Centres will reopen on Wednesday, 2 December, in line with the latest government guidelines.

The gym, pool, sports halls and outdoor facilities will be open for pre-booked sessions only. Residents can book activities online.

Children’s swimming lessons will resume on Thursday, 3 December.

Unfortunately, indoor fitness classes are not permitted under the new government restrictions however, Medway Sport will be introducing outdoor classes such as bootcamp, football fitness and running sessions.

Medway Sport will also continue to offer its members access to full-length online fitness classes on its new Medway Sport video channel to help residents stay fit at home. There are also a series of bite-size classes available for all residents to access.

A number of measures are in place to keep both our visitors and staff safe, including enhanced cleaning and social distancing guidelines. Visitors must wear face coverings whilst moving through the sports centres, unless they are exempt or aged under 11.

We are looking forward to welcoming residents back to our sports centres

Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming residents back to our sports centres. We have put a number of measures in place to ensure the safety of both visitors and our staff. Visitors must continue to follow social distancing guidelines, including wearing face coverings whilst moving through the sports centres.”
