Medway’s Severe Weather Emergency Protocol is in place | Medway Council
Published: Tuesday, 6th April 2021

We’re working with our partner agencies to advise rough sleepers that emergency accommodation is available in Medway.

Emergency accommodation is being provided for rough sleepers in Medway in addition to the housing options we offer to homeless people throughout the year.

The severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) is in place in Medway on:

  • Tuesday, 6 April

Rough sleepers are encouraged to call Kingsley House in Gillingham, on 01634 333600 or Freephone 0808 1641444 before 5pm on Tuesday to access support.

Rough sleepers who are unable to call during the day will still be provided with emergency accommodation through our out of hours homelessness service. The out of hours service can be contacted when the severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) is in place, on 01634 304400.

Our housing team and partner agencies in the Homelessness Forum are helping to spread the message to as many rough sleepers as possible to get them off the streets and into the warm.
