Our sports centres are launching an exciting programme of outdoor fitness classes as they prepare to welcome back customers.
Following feedback from customers the council is introducing outdoor fitness classes at Hoo and Strood Sports Centre from Monday, 29 March. A wide range of classes will be available including spin, Pilates, kick boxing, skip fit, bootcamp, kettlebells and aerobics. Classes must be booked online in advance.
Medway Park in Gillingham will offer outdoor fitness classes from Tuesday, 6 April. Residents will be able to book these sessions online from Tuesday, 30 March.
The classes will be held under an awning to allow socially distanced classes to take place undercover. Medway Sport members can book classes online from Monday, 22 March.
Football at Strood Soccer Centre and club track sessions at Medway Park will also resume from Monday, 29 March. Indoor facilities including changing rooms will remain closed, in line with government guidance.
We are continuing to put plans in place for the possible reopening of Medway’s sports centres on Monday, 12 April, in line with government’s roadmap for easing lockdown restrictions.
Residents can also work out at home
Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “I am pleased that we will be offering new outdoor fitness sessions to our Medway Sport members. We are looking forward to welcoming residents back to our sports centres when it is safe to do so. We will continue to offer online fitness classes so residents can work out at home.”
