Work to build 28 new affordable homes in Twydall has begun this week, as part of a £5.5million housing project.

We are building five houses in Lynsted Road, 14 homes in Eastcourt Green and nine bungalows, and a new children’s play area, in Woodchurch Crescent. All of the homes will be available for social rent, once completed.

The bungalows in Woodchurch Crescent will be linked to the council’s Woodchurch House sheltered scheme. Residents will be able to use a telecare system if they need additional support.

Providing much needed affordable housing for Medway's residents

Cllr Howard Doe, Deputy Leader of Medway Council and Portfolio Holder for Housing and Community Services, said: “This important project showcases our commitment to provide much needed affordable housing for Medway’s residents. I am pleased that we are also building bungalows specifically for older residents, and those with mobility needs. I look forward to seeing the works progress.”

The council’s contractor Building Associates Ltd will be carrying out the works and tenants are expected to be able to move into the homes in Autumn 2022.
