School transport for age 16+
Once a young person continues their education into Year 12 and
13 (Sixth Form or college), Medway Council can no longer
provide free travel. Medway resident students younger than 19 years
old can apply for a discounted bus or rail season pass.
Bus passes are point-to-point tickets and can only be used on
school days for one return journey each day between the points
shown on the ticket and not for any other journey.
Annual cost £700
Valid from September 2016 to July 2017
Termly cost £240
Term 1 September to December 2016/Term 2 January to March
2017/Term 3 April to July 2017
request an application form and accurate prices for the pass.
In your request, include:
- Your child's name
- Your child's date of birth
- Names of boarding and destination stations
- Dates the pass is required
Application forms are available from Medway Libraries,
Contact Points and Council community hubs.
Once we have received your application form, payment will be
processed and a rail warrant issued, which will need to be
collected from Gun Wharf by appointment.
Rail passes issued through Medway Council cannot be used
on high-speed train services.
Terms and conditions
- The named student on the ticket is the only person entitled to
use it – if it is given to someone else to use you could be
prosecuted by the bus or train company.
- Misbehaviour on a bus or train could lead to a ticket being
withdrawn – you would then have to make your own daily
