Medway Household Support Fund

The Household Support Fund provides support to vulnerable Medway households.

It’s for those most in need of support to help with significantly rising living costs.

Funded by the UK government, it runs until the end of March 2026.

Food support for children and families

Free school meals

All children attending school in reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to a school meal free of charge.

If you have children under 19 years old and still in full time education, they may be entitled to a free school meal if you recieve certain benefits.

Healthy Start voucher scheme

Healthy Start is an important scheme to improve the health of low-income pregnant women and children under the age of 4 years.

It offers a voucher of £4.25 per week to spend on selected groceries.

You can also get access to vitamins which are recommended for children under 5 and during pregnancy.

Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Programme

The HAF programme is available to all children in Medway and free for children who receive free school meals.
