In conjunction with ‘Catch the Bus Month’, and to coincide with ‘World Car Free Day’, all buses will be free across the weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September.
All single journeys starting in Medway across all operators will be free up to 8pm each day. For example, you can go to Bluewater for a journey starting in Medway, but would need to pay for the return.
Operators include:
- Arriva
- ASD
- Chalkwell
- Nu-Venture
- Redroute.
No ticket needed, just hop on.
This is funded by UK Government as part of the Bus Service Improvement Plan.
Travel around on buses for £2
Until 31 December 2024, single bus fares will be capped at £2 following an initiative from the Department for Transport, as part of Household Support.
Within Medway, Arriva and Chalkwell are participating in the scheme.

Country park parking charges
Parking charges come into effect at Capstone and Riverside country parks from Monday 2 September 2024:
- car - £2.50 all day
- valid Blue Badge holder - free
- coach - £9 all day (coach parking is only available in Capstone and Riverside main car parks).
An annual country parks any car park season ticket costs £60 and is valid for all country parks.
