About the Crisis and Resilience Fund
The Crisis and Resilience Fund aims to provide a safety net for people on low incomes when they face unexpected money problems, and help build local financial resilience so future crises are less likely.
Funded by the UK government, the fund is made up of 4 parts.
1. Crisis Payment
Medway residents in a crisis can apply for support through our Crisis Payment scheme.
Crisis Payments aim to:
- support low-income individuals who are experiencing budget and wellbeing pressure due to an unexpected expense or drop in income
- prevent people from entering crisis by providing timely support to manage pressures and maintain control
- prevent crises from growing.
2. Housing Payment
Housing Payment provides financial support towards housing costs. You may be awarded a Housing Payment if you meet both of these criteria:
- you're entitled to Housing Benefit or Universal Credit with an element for housing costs, including Shared Ownership properties with a rental liability
- evidence shows you're in financial hardship and your tenancy or housing situation will be at risk if further support is not provided.
3. Resilience Services
Resilience Services is focused on funding for services delivered by the council or external providers to help people improve their financial resilience.
4. Community Coordination
Community Coordination is focused on investing in activities that connect and enhance local support.
