The first phase of the improvement works are set to complete this week, with Platforms A1 to A4 set to reopen from Saturday, 22 November.
As part of the improvements being made, resurfacing is now due start from Saturday, 22 November to Friday, 28 November. This will be staggered to keep disruption to a minimum:
- Saturday, 22; Sunday, 23 and Monday, 24 November: From 8pm to 6am Platforms C and D will be closed, with all buses arriving and departing from Platforms A and B instead.
- Tuesday, 25 and Wednesday, 26 November: From 8pm to 6am platforms A and B will be closed, with all buses arriving and departing from Platforms C and D instead.
- Thursday, 27 and Friday, 28 November: From 8pm to 6am Platform A will be closed, with all buses arriving and departing from Platforms B and C instead.
Due to the resurfacing works and related road closures over these dates, buses will arrive at Chatham Waterfront Bus station via different routes to usual. Signage will be in place to help direct people to the correct platforms.
We apologise for any inconvenience whilst the essential resurfacing takes place.
These improvement works form part of the council’s commitment to enhancing pedestrian safety, accessibility and public transport. They include the introduction of a one-way scheme at the bus station on Globe Lane, a narrowing of the carriageway and extension of the central island, as well as creating a wider footbath and introduction of softer landscaping.
