Batteries, including nickel-cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal hydride (NiMH) and lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries, can be recycled at:
- libraries
- Medway Council’s main offices at Gun Wharf
- household waste recycling centres
- larger supermarkets and electronic outlets
The larger shops which sell batteries are legally required to contribute to battery recycling, as a result many of them provide collection points in store.
Trade tip: If a battery powered item, toy or device is broken, always remove the batteries before disposing of it.
