AAFDA provides:
- support to families after domestic homicide including listening and providing practical help via information, guidance, advice, advocacy and enabling
- support to families with Domestic Homicide Reviews, Inquests and other inquiries including Mental Health Enquiries and those conducted by the Independent Police Complaints Commission
- training for professionals in preventing domestic abuse, reviewing domestic homicides and working with families
Domestic Homicide Reviews support for families
If you are facing a Domestic Homicide Review, the AAFDA can:
- answer questions and explain the nature and purpose of reviews
- explain what the review will do and how you can contribute and influence the report it will produce
- come with you to meet those conducting the review if you decide to contribute information to the review team
- represent your views to the review team if you do not wish to have contact
- be available for you to contact throughout the review period
- discuss the contents of a review with you once the report of the review team is available
- give guidance and help on dealing with the media
- be available once the review is over to offer a listening ear and support
- recommend other organisations that may be able to help
