For elderly and disabled people the sight of their overgrown garden, once carefully tended, can be upsetting. It can also be a sign that a vulnerable person lives in the house.
The HANDS team of volunteer gardeners undertakes simple tasks to ensure that the garden is tidy.
They work under strict Health and Safety guidelines and risk assessments are undertaken before the gardeners are assigned their duties.
The clients not only benefit from the practical help but also enjoy the company of a friendly volunteer.
A charge of £7.50 per session of 2 to 3 hours is made to cover expenses.
