Description

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Helpline provides support and information to anyone affected by MS in the UK.

You can contact the helpline by:

It is free to call the MS Helpline from all UK landlines and all mobile phone networks.

Support offered

The MS Helpline can provide emotional support and information on symptoms, current research, diagnosis, treatments, accessing services, support and benefits, and getting in touch with the MS community.

We are not medically qualified and we're not benefits advisors: we can't tell you what to do, but we can give you information and explore your options with you.

Every year, we speak to thousands of people affected by MS, including people newly diagnosed with MS, partners or friends of people with MS, carers and young carers, health and social care professionals and people who have suspected MS but no diagnosis.

We occasionally monitor enquiries for training and quality purposes, but all contact to the MS Helpline is confidential.

Interpreting service

Using language line we are able to provide support to people in the UK whose first language is not English.

The interpreting service covers over 170 languages.

Call the MS Helpline directly and request an interpreter. We welcome contact from people with speech and/or hearing difficulties and we will support you however you choose to get in touch.

Text service

If you would like to call, but you can't hear us, don't catch all that we're saying, or find speaking difficult, the Next Generation Text (NGT) Service can help.

The NGT Service helps people with hearing loss and/or speech difficulties to access the telephone system.

A relay assistant can either type or repeat the words either of us are using so we can have a conversation.

If you are a textphone user, you can call the MS Helpline for free using the NGT by dialling 18001 0808 800 8000.
