Rethink Mental Illness gives practical advice and information about issues such as:

  • different types of therapy and medication
  • benefit, debt, and money issues
  • police, courts and prison
  • your rights under the Mental Health Act and other laws

Our mental health information is available throughout our website along with free, printable resources. All our health and social care information is accredited by the Information Standard.

We cannot give emergency help. Please note that our service is confidential.

If you choose to provide details they will not be shared with anyone outside the service unless we have your permission, or if we have to, in order to protect you, or other people. 

Your contact with us will be saved and stored in line with our data protection and confidentiality policies.

The Rethink Mental Illness advice phone line is available on 0300 5000 927 Monday to Friday, from 10am to 2pm.

The service provides practical advice for adults in England with mental health problems.

We are not open on bank holidays.

Our phone line is charged at the same cost as a local call.

The Advice Line can get very busy, so you can also contact us using the online form.
