Richard Watts Charities
Description

Richard Watts Charities, founded in 1579, provides educational grants, out pension grants for retired applicants and relief in need grants.

These grants are available for those who live in the area of the original City of Rochester.

The educational grants can be applied for by any school within the boundary of the City of Rochester and are available towards specific items associated with education including books, equipment, special needs arrangements, music and outings.

For successful, eligible applicants we also award initial grants from the Educational Trust to assist students going to university.

The out pension grants were first introduced in 1908 and provide a regular four-weekly top-up payment to retired applicants who meet the financial criteria and live within the area of the charity.

The relief in need grants are grants towards equipment, clothing, furnishings etc. which can be made to persons of any age group living within the area of the charity and meeting the financial criteria.
