Description

We provide complex wound care advice through community nursing in Sheppey and Sittingbourne. We provide the same service to the community hospitals, the Memorial and Sheppey. We also provide a support service to all the local prisons on the island.

After a comprehensive assessment, they will discuss and advise on possible treatments for the condition. We can also arrange referral to other services if necessary.

Our services

The services that are provided are:

  • clinics that provide wound assessment and treatment to mobile patients with Medway GPs
  • suture and clip removal following surgery
  • doppler ultrasound assessment of the legs
  • assessment of venous flow to the legs
  • assessment of skin conditions
  • skin biopsy
  • advice for scar management and skin camouflage
  • conservative sharp debridement (removal of dead skin with a scalpel or with high pressure water jet)
  • advice and allocation of specialist pressure relieving equipment (mattresses and cushions)
  • advice for all healthcare professionals and carers caring for patients in Medway and Swale who have skin conditions or wounds
  • training and education for healthcare professionals including trained staff, non-trained staff and students.

We do not provide emergency treatment.

All referrals for specialist pressure relieving equipment must be completed by a GP or healthcare professional using the online referral form.
