How to recycle

We do not collect cans containing wet paint within the normal black sack waste service or non-recyclable waste containers at the household waste and recycling centres.

This is to prevent:

  • damage to our refuse collection vehicles and compactors
  • creating a health and safety hazard for staff and pedestrians.

Recycle your paint

If your cans of paint are:

  • half full or more, you can donate to a good cause by placing the sealed can at the Gillingham Street Angels HWRC donation point
  • less than half full, dry these out by leaving the lid off or mixing the contents with sand, dry soil, sawdust or cat litter). Once dried either place in black sacks once dried or in the non-recyclable household waste container at a HWRC.
