Changes to Blue Boar Lane car park

Blue Boar Lane car park will be changing to Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) from 7am on Tuesday 13 June 2023.

There will be flow plates at the entry to the car park. These are designed to only allow a vehicle to travel one way.

These should be crossed at a maximum speed of 5mph and in a straight line.

The metal pegs will drop down as your vehicle moves over the plates and pop back up to stop vehicles traveling back out the entrance.

There will be a barrier at the exit.

More about the ANPR system.

Blue Badges

If you're a Blue Badge holder you can still park for free, but you must register your Blue Badge and vehicle details before you enter the car park.

You may register multiple vehicles on your account, however only one vehicle may be active at any one time to use.

Find out how to add vehicles to your ANPR Blue Badge parking account.

Please ensure that the vehicle you are using for your visit is selected on your account for free parking, otherwise you will need to pay the parking charge to exit the car park.

Your application will provide free parking for the registered vehicle in all Medway Council ANPR car parks in Rochester, including:

  • Blue Boar Lane
  • Corporation Street
  • Rochester multi-storey.

You must continue to display your Blue Badge when parked.

Please allow up to 7 to 10 working days for any new Blue Badge exemption to be processed.

This car park becomes very busy when events and festivals are taking place in Rochester. There may be long queues to gain access.

If you need help with your application, please call 01634 331 760 between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday or email parkingenforcement@medway.gov.uk.

Permit holders

We have automatically updated all existing late night permit and worshipper parking permit holders. Any new applications will be processed by our Parking Service. Please allow up to 7 to 10 working days for any new applications to be processed.

If you're a holder of a late night or worshipper permit, you do not need to contact us.

You must continue to display your permit when parked.

Motorcycles

The motorcycle parking bays are outside the car park and will not be affected by the ANPR system.

How to pay

Phone

You can pay by using the Go Mobon app on your phone. The location code is 79450.

You can also pay using RingGo PayLater.

This works in a slightly different way; you will not need to pay for parking until you return to your vehicle.

How RingGo PayLater works:

  • the ANPR camera will record your time of arrival
  • open the RingGo app or go to the RingGo website when you return to your vehicle
  • select the correct location code (79450)
  • select the duration of your stay
  • pay for your stay before leaving the car park
  • drive to the barrier and exit the car park.

If you do not enter the correct duration the barrier will not open. You will then need to either enter the RingGo app or website again, or use the contactless card option at the barrier, to pay for the balance of your parking.

Online

You can register for Autopay and set up automatic parking payments.

Pay station

Pay using coin, card or contactless at the pay station next to the vehicle entry before returning to your vehicle. You’ll need to enter your vehicle registration and pay the fee shown on the screen.

After you have paid

Once you have paid, you must return to your vehicle and leave the car park immediately. The camera will read your vehicle registration and raise the barrier.

Payment at exit barrier (ITSME)

Contactless card payment may be made by driving directly to the exit barrier. The camera will read your vehicle registration and you will then be asked to follow the instructions on the screen.
