Where you can park

Valid Blue Badge holders can park free of charge in:

• designated Blue Badge bays
• general use parking bays.

You must be parked within the lines of a bay where these are present.

Blue Badge holders may park:

• on single or double yellow lines on the street for up to 3 hours, provided the vehicle is not causing an obstruction
• on a red single line up to 3 hours outside of the times shown on the sign, or in designated red route disabled bays
• in pay and display bays
• in shared-use bays
• in residents' permit bays
• in limited waiting bays for the time shown on the sign
• in ANPR car parks
• in a short stay car park. You must set your parking clock to your arrival time and display it alongside your Blue Badge.

You must display your Blue Badge clearly and check signs and road markings before leaving your vehicle.

Failure to display your Blue Badge may result in a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

How long you can park for

You can stay for the maximum time permitted for that car park.

Where you cannot park

You must not park:

• on double yellow lines in a car park
• on double red lines
• on school keep clear markings (Zig Zags)
• on chevron or hatched markings
• on pedestrian crossings
• in motorcycle bays
• in taxi ranks
• in electric vehicle charging bays unless your vehicle is charging
• in parent and toddler bays unless a child is travelling with you.

Loading restrictions

You must not park in loading bays. However, some concessions apply outside of the time of operation.

Loading restrictions are identified by yellow vertical stripes on the kerb:

• double kerb markings mean no loading at any time. However, Blue Badge holders can stop briefly to drop someone off or pick them up
• single kerb markings mean no loading during the times shown on nearby signs. Blue Badge holders may park for up to 3 hours outside of the times shown on the sign.

Blue Badge concessions do not apply during loading restriction periods.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) car parks

You must register your Blue Badge and vehicle details before you enter an ANPR car park.

You may register multiple vehicles on your account, however only one vehicle may be active at any one time to use.

Make sure that the vehicle you're using for your visit is selected on your account for free parking, otherwise you will need to pay the parking charge to exit the car park.

Your application will provide free parking for the registered vehicle in all Medway Council ANPR car parks in Rochester, including:

• Blue Boar Lane
• Corporation Street
• Rochester multi-storey.

You must continue to display your Blue Badge when parked.

Failure to display your Blue Badge may result in a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

Please allow up to 7 to 10 working days for any new Blue Badge exemption to be processed.
