The five towns of Medway are at the heart of four new community celebrations this summer.

Focus On High Halstow: Saturday 22 September 2018

Focus on High Halstow, Hoo takes place on Saturday 22 September at High Halstow Recreation Ground, The Street, High Halstow, Rochester, Kent, ME3 8SQ.

Come along between 12noon and 6pm for a day jam-packed with activities including:

  • pony rides (available all day)
  • land zorbing (available all day)
  • ‘Have a Go’ sports (available all day)
  • Team Extreme (demos on BMX, skateboard, scooter, inline skates) shows will take place at 1.30pm and 4pm
  • Team Extreme (coaching and competitions on BMX, skateboard, scooter, inline skates) will take place at 12pm and 6pm
  • live music
  • fun roaming entertainment including Black Eagles at 2.45pm to 5.30pm and Stilt Walking Cricketers at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm
  • Wonderful World of Mr E! - interactive sessions at 12.45pm, 3.15pm and 4.45pm
  • face painting

Have-a-go activities are free. There is a charge for face painting.

Getting to High Halstow Recreation Ground

Please note there is limited onsite parking at High Halstow. Parking can be found at Christmas Lane, High Halstow, Rochester, ME3 8SN.

Disabled parking is also available on site.

There are multiple Arriva bus services that stop in High Halstow close to the Recreational Ground.

These services include:

Focus on Rainham: Saturday 19 May 2018

Our first Focus On event was held in Rainham, Cozenton Park on Saturday 19 May 2018.

There was a whole range of events to enjoy including:

  • pig racing
  • live music and dancing including Medway Lindy Hoppers, The Big Sing and More Than Echoes
  • Team Extreme featuring BMX, skateboard and inline skating demos stunts and competitions
  • a horticultural fair with lots of flowers, plants and garden ornament
  • a climbing wall
  • face painting
  • food stalls

Focus On Hook Meadow: Saturday 1 September 2018

On Saturday 1 September 2018, we celebrated Focus on Hook Meadow at Hook Meadow Recreation Ground.

This was part of Medway's 20th anniversary celebrations to highlight all that's great about each area.

Hood Meadow welcomed a mini farm with small animals for you to see including lambs, kid goats, rabbits and guinea pigs.

There was also:

  • 30 to 40 minute yoga taster sessions
  • live music including performances from The Juke Boxes
  • library activities available all day
  • have-a-go Tag Archery available all day
  • pop-up tennis available all day
  • free dog chipping available all day
  • Team Extreme - demonstrations of inline skates, scooters, skateboards and BMX available all day
  • live music from Walderslade Community Choir, The Big Sing
  • 50+ keep fit workshops
  • 20 to 30 minute dance displays from The Anderson School of Dance
  • Dream Academy workshop session including dance, drama and singing
  • refreshment stalls

Mini Farm at Focus on Hook Meadow

Focus On Strood: Saturday 15 September 2018

On Saturday 15 September, we celebrated Focus on Strood at Northcote Playing Field.

The event included:

  • Joseph’s Amazing Camels (camel racing demonstrations)
  • Team Extreme demos, coaching and competitions on BMX, skateboards, scooters and inline skates
  • Archery Tag
  • SWANK! Roaming entertainment
  • Circus skills workshops
  • Diggerland (mini digger activities) 
  • climbing wall
  • face painting
  • arts and crafts
  • special exhibition based on Strood, Vera Conway Gordon and the Suffragist movement
  • free dog chipping
  • refreshments stalls

There was also a bandstand with entertainment throughout the day.
