Overview

Medway Register Office is split across two buildings. 

The main building is for marriages and certificates. The second building is for birth and death registrations.

The main building is open from 9.30am to 4pm.

Aims

Medway Register Office has the following aims:

  • our receptionist will see you within five minutes
  • if you have an appointment, to see you within ten minutes of your appointment time
  • if you do not have an appointment, to make an appointment for you or tell you what time we can see you
  • to arrange an appointment to give a notice of marriage or civil partnership within five working days
  • to arrange an appointment to register a birth within five working days
  • to arrange an appointment to register a death within two working days
  • to arrange an appointment to register a stillbirth within two working days
  • giving a notice of marriage or civil partnership will take up to 45 minutes
  • registering a birth will take approximately 30 minutes
  • registering a death will take approximately 30 minutes
  • to issue 90 per cent of copy certificates of birth, death and marriage records within five working days
