Depending on what type of tenant you are will determine who you should pay your rent to and what rights and responsibilities you have.

Leaseholders

Leaseholders own their home for a fixed length of time under a lease (an agreement) with a landlord or freeholder. The ownership of the property returns to the landlord once the lease ends. Leaseholders will pay ground rent to their landlord and service charges to cover the cost of running services such as maintenance, repairs and communal electricity and water.
