Register for social housing

Suspended digital service - June 2023

From 1 June to 30 June 2023, we will be temporarily suspending the option to apply digitally to the housing register. This is while we move to a new system and a new-look website.

If you need to apply to the housing register, we strongly recommend that you do so as soon as possible ahead of 1 June 2023.

If you need to apply urgently for housing during June 2023, you can contact the Rehousing Team by emailing rehousing@medway.gov.uk or calling 01634 334 433. The team will be able to give you advice on what to do next.

We'll be reopening the option to apply to the housing register online on 1 July 2023.

Register

Anyone can apply for social housing. However, due to the high demand on social housing and the lack of social housing properties available, only those with a high or urgent need to move will be given a priority band. If you are awarded a priority band you will be able to express interest in advertised accommodation.

Register for social housing

If you meet the criteria to register you will be placed on the inactive register and offered accommodation if a property can’t be let to people on the active register.

We assess each application against the Medway Allocations Policy and will give emergency or urgent priority if someone’s life or health is at risk if they don’t move immediately. For more information read our allocations policy.
