The Connected Kent and Medway Smartcard Scheme will be closing on Sunday 2 April 2023.

While the scheme has successfully provided a cashless ticketing solution for operators and bus users on parts of Kent’s bus network, contactless payments on buses and other ticketing initiatives have led to fewer people using the scheme.

We will phase out the scheme over the next 2 months.

Using your smartcard until Sunday 2 April 2023

We are no longer processing any applications for new or replacement cards. You are also no longer able to top up your smartcard.

If you have any remaining balance on your card, please use it before the scheme ends on Sunday 2 April 2023.

If you are unable to, you can request a refund by emailing connectedsmartcard@kent.gov.uk.

We will process refunds after Sunday 2 April 2023.

From this date, bus operators will no longer accept the Connected Smartcard for travel and the online customer portal will also close.

If you have any questions, please contact the smartcard team on 03000 419 996 or by emailing connectedsmartcard@kent.gov.uk.
