COVID-19 Bus Services Support Grant (CBSSG)

In April 2020, the Department for Transport announced extra funding for bus operators and local councils. This is to support bus services during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The local transport authority element of COVID-19 Bus Services Support Grant (CBSSG) is being allocated to support local bus services. This includes tendered bus services that may be experiencing revenue shortfalls. This will help support any adjustments to services required by the authority.

The aim is to ensure that local bus services continue to operate in the right places, and at the right times of day. It will also provide support for bus services post COVID-19 while passenger numbers are still recovering.

We're using the funding to replace lost income from passenger fares on supported bus services which are provided by Arriva, ASD Coaches and Nu-Venture.
