Alley-gating | Alley-gating | Medway Council

Alley-gating is when security gates are installed at the entrance to privately owned alleyways and passages to help prevent crime.

A number of criminal or anti-social acts can be reduced or eliminated if security gates are in place. However, residents should be aware that gating is only one solution and it may not always be possible to install gates, for legal reasons.

We don't currently provide an alley-gating service, but we have prepared a comprehensive Alley-gating information pack for residents, which explains what they need to do, who needs to be involved and how long the process of providing gates is likely to take.

You can request maintenance of alley gates  such as key replacement or broken locks.
