If you're a current member of staff and know someone who would thrive in children’s services, refer them through our Refer a Friend scheme. Think about friends, family, or professional contacts who might be a great fit for our teams.

You’ll receive rewards through vouchers if they are shortlisted, appointed, and stay with us for 6 months.

Email cscrecruitment@medway.gov.uk to refer someone and mention your name in the "Referred by" section of your application.

Summary of the scheme

The Refer a Friend Scheme supports the recruitment and retention of the following roles within Children’s Services at Medway Council:

  • Residential Care Worker (Range 3)
  • Team Leader - Residential Care (Range 5)
  • Service Manager (Range SW5)
  • Team Manager (Range SW4)
  • Assistant Team Manager (Range SW3)
  • Senior Practitioner (SW3)
  • Social Worker posts (SW2/2A) in Children’s Services (excluding Newly Qualified Social Workers).

Our permanent employees can refer a friend for any of these roles. If the friend is successfully appointed, the referring employee will receive:

  • £750 for qualified social workers
  • £500 for residential care workers.

Voucher payments are made in 3 stages:

  • £50 when the friend is shortlisted for interview
  • £200 when they begin employment at Medway
  • £500 (or £250 for residential care workers) upon completion of their probationary period.
