The group holds litter picks and river clean ups, and in September 2019 they held their first Litter Critter.

Medway Swale Estuary Partnership (MSEP)

Medway Swale Estuary Partnership

Medway Swale and Estuary Partnership work is centred around the understanding, conservation and promotion of the estuary’s natural and cultural heritage.
For the last three years, the partnership has been doing extensive beach and estuary clean-ups across north Kent, working alongside both Medway Council and Swale Borough Council.

To keep up to date with their work, and find out about volunteering opportunities and future clean-ups visit the Medway Swale and Estuary Partnership website.

Maritime Volunteer Service

The Medway Maritime Volunteer Service (MVS) has been working to clear the River Medway of plastic debris.

In 2019 MVS retrieved half a ton of plastic waste from the river bed which included traffic cones, shopping trollies and car tyres. 2020 will bring renewed focus to clear debris from the river and explore partnership opportunities with other groups and charities to help make the river a cleaner place and encourage wildlife on the urban salt marshes at Rochester.

There are a number of groups that litter pick across Medway including in our parks and greenspaces
