Supporting selective eaters
Session details
- Date: Thursday 6 February 2025
- Time: 10am to 12pm
- Join the 6 February meeting.
Refusing to eat some foods or types of food is a phase lots of children go through and a natural part of their development. It's often a way to show their independence and test boundaries. This is normally a phase they'll grow out of.
For some children, selective eating can be carried on into adulthood.
In this session we'll explore:
- the 5 areas of selective eating
- strategies to help
- methods to introduce new foods.
Individuals with a better quality of life are less likely to display behaviours that challenge, while those with a lower quality of life are more likely to experience:
- anxiety
- depression
- low self esteem.
We'll explore how the environment around someone can have a detrimental impact on their decisions, ability to live a healthier lifestyle and how to identify and act on those barriers.
