Vote for the Young Mayor of Medway

Voting is now open for the very first Young Mayor of Medway.

Voting is open to children and young people in Medway aged 7 to 18 years old.

You can vote either by:

using our online form
in schools or community groups
at Child-friendly Medway events.

Voting opens Monday 1 June and closes on Monday 31 August 2026.

Vote using our online form

You can vote for the Young Mayor of Medway using our online form below.

In the form, children and young people will need to give:

their name
their date of birth
the name of their school or college (if applicable)
a parent or carer’s email address.

Voting in schools or community groups

If you're a Medway school or community group with lots of children and young people voting, we can give your school or group paper voting slips.

Voting slips will need to be handed in by the end of July 2026 or by the end of the summer term to give enough time for counting.

For community groups, children and young people will need to put the school they go to to avoid voting multiple times.

What happens after

The Young Mayor and Young Deputy Mayors will be in post from 28 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.

Voting terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions apply:

Each child and young person has one vote.
When voting online children and young people will be asked to enter their name, date of birth, school or college (if applicable) and a parent or carer’s email address.
Child-friendly Medway will not enter into correspondence with any young person voting. The email address is only to help prevent multiple votes.
Only one vote per email address will be accepted. Please contact Child-friendly Medway for help if there is more than one child per household who wishes to vote online.
When voting in person at school or a Child-friendly Medway event, children and young people will be asked what school they go to or if they have been to previous events where voting has taken place. This is to avoid a child or young person voting multiple times.
Personal data will be stored securely and not shared beyond the Child-friendly Medway team.
Post-election, all records of votes, including paper voting slips and voters’ details will be stored securely for one year for scrutiny if required.
After 12 months, all records will be safely destroyed.
The nominee receiving the most votes from the 8 candidates will become Young Mayor, and the 7 runners-up will become the Young Deputy Mayors.
In the case of a draw, the Child-friendly Medway team will include the votes from the shortlisting panel as the deciding factor for who will become the Young Mayor of Medway.
In the case of a young person withdrawing from the Young Mayor election, we'll reduce the number of deputies and any votes cast for that candidate will become null and void.
