Medway’s Young Mayor
Medway’s Young Mayor will be a champion for children. They’ll capture the voices of our young residents, and provide feedback and ideas to make Medway even more child-friendly.
Every year, a new Young Mayor and 7 deputies will take post from September to August.
The position will complement the Medway Youth Council and our 2 Youth Parliament members.

About the role
The Young Mayor role is a celebratory one, not political.
They should be:
- a confident communicator
- passionate about having an impact on children and young people in Medway
- happy to meet new people and ensure the views of children and young people are heard.
The Young Mayor will attend a variety of events across the year that are suitable for children.
Community and milestone events
The Young Mayor will be involved with:
- handing out awards
- judging competitions
- small speaking roles
- photo and press opportunities.
Child-friendly Medway City Hall events
The Young Mayor will be invited to talk with children and young people to find out what matters most to them.
