How to take part in the consultation
You can now have your say on our draft Local Plan. This is the version of the Local Plan that we intend to submit to the Planning Inspectorate for examination.
The plan outlines how Medway will grow up to 2041 including:
- identifying the sites and locations for new homes, services and businesses
- how we plan to protect the natural environment and heritage
- improving services such as transport, and revitalising our town centres
- supporting healthy communities
- boosting business development
- addressing climate change.
How to take part in the consultation
To take part, you need to register on our consultation portal. Registration should only take a few minutes. After you've registered you can submit comments to us.
You can also submit your comments by post and email:
- email: planning.policy@medway.gov.uk
- post: Planning Service, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR.
In your comments, you need to say if you consider that the plan is legally compliant and sound. Find out more about legal compliance and test of soundness.

The consultation closes at 11.59pm on Monday 11 August 2025.
Printed copies of our draft Local Plan will be available to view in all Medway Libraries.
