The Ukraine Permission Extension (UPE) scheme gives Ukrainian nationals currently living in the UK under one of the existing Ukraine schemes permission to stay in the UK for a further 18 months.

The scheme is free to apply for and will give Ukrainian nationals the same entitlements to work, study, rent and receive benefits.

Support for Ukrainian nationals

You can apply for the UPE scheme if you have been granted permission to stay in the UK under either the:

  • Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme
  • Ukraine Family Scheme
  • Ukraine Extension Scheme.

You must apply within 28 days or less before your current permission expires.

If you arrived to the UK under the Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme and are still living with your sponsor, you should send a share code to Medway Council. This is to prove the expiry date of your current permission. You can use the view and prove service on GOV.UK to generate a share code. You'll need to email your share code to homesforukraine@medway.gov.uk.
