We are encouraging businesses, which were affected by the government’s Plan B Coronavirus restrictions in December, to apply for government funding.

Hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses can now apply for the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) of up to £6,000.

The one-off grant aims to support businesses in these sectors which offer in-person services and were affected by the Coronavirus Omicron variant.

The deadline for applications for the OHLG is Friday, 18 March 2022.

Businesses which are not eligible for the OHLG can apply for the Additional Restrictions Grant – December 2021. Depending on the business’ rateable value, or fixed monthly costs if it does not pay business rates, businesses could be eligible for a grant between £500 and £6,000. Businesses in the hospitality, leisure, accommodation and travel/tourism sectors that do not pay business rates, will be prioritised for this discretionary funding, as well as businesses which directly supply these sectors. The deadline for ARG applications is 11.59pm on Sunday, 20 February 2022.

Encourage businesses to find out more

Leader of Medway Council, Cllr Alan Jarrett, said: “Throughout the pandemic we have continued to support Medway’s businesses distributing more than £114million in government grants, thanks to the hard work of our council officers. I would encourage businesses to find out more about the support available and, when applying include as much information as possible, including evidence of how the pandemic has impacted trading, to help speed up the application process.”
