An office block in an emerging city centre in the south-east will be lit up in a fitting tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.

A large art installation has been created using Mountbatten House which looms over the Pentagon Shopping Centre in Chatham, Medway’s emerging city centre, as part of the area’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Around 250 windows have been tactically coloured purple or blacked out and once it gets dark a fantastic display, fit for a Queen, is revealed. Her Majesty’s royal cypher, EiiR and the number 70 will be proudly displayed at sunset until sunrise the following day from Wednesday, 1 June until Thursday, 9 June.

The installation is a subtle acknowledgement of the faithful service of Her Majesty The Queen and the glow of the royal purple windows honours and represents her ongoing service.

The project has been organised by Ammused and supported by us, Medway Development Company and Medway Norse.

Mountbatten House has some of the best views across the River Medway towards Rochester Castle and cathedral and across to an award-winning greenspace. Planning permission has been granted for new homes to be created in Mountbatten House alongside new retail opportunities. To make the most of the spectacular views, a rooftop restaurant is also planned.
