Following the power outage in Wayfield yesterday (Tuesday, 8 August) the Leader of Medway Council has issued a statement.

Continuing to offer our support

Cllr Vince Maple, said: “Following the incident in Wayfield yesterday (Tuesday, 8 August), council officers immediately visited the area to provide support to residents affected by the power outage. We have spoken to all the vulnerable residents in the affected area and will continue to offer our support until the power can safely be restored.

“I visited Wayfield Road last night and I would like to thank everyone on site including Kent Fire and Rescue Service, MHS Homes, UK Power Networks and our own council officers for their hard work ensuring residents were safe and had everything they needed.

“I would also like to thank all the residents who have offered their support to those affected by the power outage, it is truly heartwarming to see Medway’s fantastic communities coming together to offer their support.

“We will continue to work with UK Power Networks and other partners to ensure power is safely restored as soon as possible.”
