The recent improvements to the children’s play areas at The Strand have been completed.

The main play area has had five new pieces of exciting children’s outdoor equipment installed, including seesaws and a carousel roundabout.

The sandpit has also been expanded and seen new equipment installed. Children can now explore the sand pit using the new stepping pods, build sandcastles with the new scoops and sand buckets and take a well-earned rest in the newly installed hammock.

The improvements cost £50,000 and were funded by Section 106 developer contributions.

Committed to improving access to greenspaces

Cllr Simon Curry, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder covering Greenspaces, said: “I am really pleased that this work has been completed at the children’s play areas at The Strand. As a council we put children at the heart of everything we do, and making sure they have the chance for fun, active, healthy places to play is key to this. We are committed to improving access to greenspaces and play areas across Medway and we have plans for further projects in other parts of Medway.”
