Medway Council is consulting on a new council plan and is seeking the views of local people as it shapes its agenda for the coming four years.
The One Medway Council Plan will set out the council’s vision, ambitions and priorities to ensure the best outcomes for residents, businesses and communities of Medway and make Medway a great place to live, work, learn and visit.
The council has set out five principal priorities - each supported by a number of sub-priorities - for the coming years:
- Delivering quality social care and community services
- Benefiting from good education opportunities, quality jobs and a growing economy
- Enjoying clean, green, safe, and connected communities
- Improving health and wellbeing services for all
- Ensuring there are good quality, affordable homes for people to live in.
It is called the One Medway Council Plan to reflect the ambition the council has to work with everyone in Medway to move forward together to achieve our ambition. It also builds on the One Medway Charter signed by seven organisations last summer, setting out ambitions to work together to make Medway a great place to live, work, learn and visit.
The council wants to ensure the plan reflects the priorities of everyone in Medway and is now seeking the views of local people, businesses, community organisations and partners on the proposed priorities and sub-priorities. The questionnaire can be filled in online or hard copies are available in all our community hubs and libraries and sports centres.
Commenting on the consultation, Medway Council Leader, Cllr Vince Maple, said: “Our new administration is hugely ambitious for Medway but we want to ensure that our priorities reflect the priorities of local people. We have already shaped the plan based on views given to us in recent surveys. The One Medway Council Plan is more than just a set of promises, it also sets out the type of place Medway wants to be, how we will get there and the values that will guide us to get there. It is very much a plan for everyone in Medway so we hope that many people across our great communities will want to get involved and have their say.”
The consultation runs until Sunday 11 February.
