Children across Medway will begin finding out today which secondary school they will be attending from September 2024.

Today is national offer day (Friday, 1 March), which in Medway sees our School Admissions Team beginning the huge task of processing secondary school applications for a total of 4,505 children, including 861 children from outside Medway.

Of the 3,644 Medway children offered places, more than 96 per cent have been awarded a place at one of their preferred secondary schools.

We offer parents and carers the opportunity to submit their child’s application online, using a quick and simple form; and this year 98 per cent of families used the online process to submit their preferences.

A fantastic range of secondary schools

Cllr Tracy Coombs, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Education, said: “Medway has a fantastic range of secondary schools which meet every child’s individual needs, and I am delighted that more than 96 per cent of children have been allocated their chosen school. I would also like to say a huge thank you to all those involved in the admissions process, for their role in a monumental and essential task.”

A milestone event

Cllr Adam Price, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said: “Starting secondary school is a milestone event in everyone’s life and learning which school you’ll be attending is an exciting moment. It’s fantastic that so many children have been given a place at one of their preferred schools and I want to wish everyone the very best for when they take the next step in their education this September.”
