Medway’s residents are being encouraged to take part in a survey to help refresh Medway’s Climate Change Action Plan.

The survey can be completed online open today (Tuesday, 2 April) and will run until Tuesday, 30 April.

In 2019, Medway Council declared a climate emergency and developed an action plan to identify how Medway can play its part in tackling climate change, and achieve net zero carbon in Medway by 2050.

We are now looking to refresh our Climate Change Action Plan. As well as looking at the progress that has been made so far, the aim of the refresh is to identify priorities and ensure actions that will have the biggest impact are focused on.

As part of this work, our Climate Response team will be holding events across Medway throughout April to engage with residents. These events will all run from 9am – 2pm, and will be held at:

  • Dockside Shopping Centre - Wednesday, 3 April
  • Riverside County Park - Tuesday, 9 April
  • Twydall Library - Tuesday, 16 April
  • Strood Library - Wednesday, 17 April
  • Rochester Library - Monday, 22 April
  • Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre - Monday, 22 April

Focusing our efforts

Cllr Simon Curry, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and Strategic Regeneration, said: “Everybody knows how important tackling climate change is, and we all have our own part to play. Taking the opportunity to refresh our Climate Change Action Plan allows us to ensure we are focusing our efforts in the right places and in the best ways possible. I would encourage everyone to have their say and help feed into Medway’s plans for a greener and more sustainable future.”
