Medway residents and local businesses are being encouraged to find out more about a scheme which could help them lower their energy bills and reduce their carbon emissions.

We have partnered with Kent County Council once again to promote Solar Together, which offers high-quality solar panels, at reduced prices.

Solar Together Kent is a group-buying scheme which helps households get a competitive price on the installation of solar panels.

The scheme aims to increase the number of solar panels installed across Medway, boosting local renewable energy generation and helping to deliver Medway’s vision of net zero carbon by 2050.

Since the innovative scheme was launched in Medway in 2020, 183 homeowners have installed solar panels on their properties in Medway achieving a carbon emission saving of 158,391 kilograms across the first year of installs.

If you already have solar panels installed, you can apply for battery storage to maximise the benefits of your existing installation.

Residents can register their interest in the scheme for free and without obligation before Friday, 31 May 2024.

Renewable energy

Cllr Simon Curry, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder covering climate change, said: “The Solar Together scheme offers solar panels at a competitive price. Using renewable energy is not only beneficial for our climate, but it could also reduce your electricity bill.

“I am pleased that almost 200 Medway residents have already been able to benefit from this scheme and would encourage anyone else considering installing solar panels to register their interest.”
